Mandela's Legacy

Nelson Mandela, the first black president in South African history, has been in a very critical condition, having a range of problems from lungs disease and others, which is only natural due to his age. Like we have seen many times before, people from many religions gathered and prayed for the health of the man that has been accounted for the freedom of South Africa and is considered by many as the father of the world. Mandela has been widely regarded as a symbol of freedom, racial unity, peace, togetherness, as well as equality and people wonder whether South Africa will ever be able to carry on the right path if anything tragic had to happen on the life of this man.

Mandela has taught us a lot about ourselves and others, and also how to deal with the problems we face everyday. He has also taught us that forgiving is one of the most important things to do as it allows us to live without any regrets and without having to feel the need to retaliate or hold grudges against our fellow human counterparts. Sometimes we tend to think that things only happen among us but truth is, bad things happen every where, now how we deal with these bad situations is what makes us who we are. We were all born the same way, the world around us builds us in different ways depending of your environment and other factors but, we have to adapt to changes and be able to move forward without having to rely on someone that has already done so much for us.

I am very optimistic about South Africa being able to carry on without Mandela, I mean, he has been off the major scenes for a while and we have been doing the best we can to stick to the values and legacy Nelson Mandela has paved for us, and we will continue doing so, irregardless of what the world thinks of us.
